11th & 18th Oct (week break) & 1st Nov 2008
Saturdays 1:30 to 3:30pm
Three 2 hour sessions (a total of 6 hours: £75*)
Taught by Bee Clinch.
Bee Clinch looked upon her teenage years as a missed opportunity for buying clothes and dressing-up. Despite being so shallow she spent her time wisely and made the clothes instead. In order to do this she spent many hours sewing and learning to knit and crochet. The surprising thing was that
she became absolutely passionate about both skills and when her kids grew up she used her talents to start her own interior accessories business. Bee has taught in many situations from primary school children to overseas adults so she welcomes the chance to spread her crochet obsession.
Crochet is increasingly appearing on the cat-walks and this season in particular has seen a riot of crochet decoration with beautiful tops from Temperley to divine shoes from Marc Jacobs. It is such an easy way to create so much more than just 'granny squares'. Working from only one loop of yarn there are endless possiblities to what you can make and what stitches you can to use. No dropped stitches, no tricky needles and the satisfying chance to see the work grow quickly.
The classes will cover the simple start-up stitches and basic principles and, through the projects, an introduction to texture stitches, trims and shaping. Projects will aim to include scarves, bags and interior accessories using all the wonderful yarns supplied by loop incorporating the unusual as well as traditional.
